An Epic Find

Yes, Melissa, there is a Santa Claus. And even if he's arrived 3 weeks late, Santa brings great joy and peace onto the world....in the form of a brand new, never been worn $200 Burberry shirt. Found at the Goodwill today. For $5 dollars.

No, don't adjust the resolution on your computer screens. You read that right. I decided to visit the Goodwill today, in hopes of finding a nice little purse that would fill the void of the one that I really wanted from Nordstrom's. Even though the purse was never found, I discovered this gem within the racks next to Dress Barn blouses and Target discards.

I was actually stunned at the sight of it, but not so much to snatch it up and secure it under my arm, in case someone else might want to fight over it. I ran out of that place like a bandit!

Mind you, I had conversations over this last week with some of my co-workers about the Burberry store at the MOA. All of us agreed that it is much too painful to enter, since everything costs so much and is out of our coffee-making tip jar reach. I guess you have to hope a little bit that one day, we'll be able to shop there. But in the meantime, there are always surprises at the Goodwill.

My Desk

My desk is like the Bermuda Triangle. It basically is a place full of things that had planned on traveling somewhere, and got stuck in a sea of pictures and tools of the trade. I like to keep within my view images that conjure inspiration: Bob Dylan, Audrey Hepburn, and a big fabric Union Jack flag/kite that I made for a class last year. It's a wonder I get any work done with so much clutter! Although, if it was clean and neat, I don't think that I would be able to find anything...

Taxidermy is sometimes okay

This here is a drawing that I did for my sweet friend Richard from work. He wanted me to design a tattoo for him, and I thought that a mounted buck's head would be pretty awesome inked on his chest. Well, after drawing the thing all afternoon, no one was really turned on by it. I took the drawing home and decided to give it to my dad. Back in the day, he was a champion target shooter, so having a picture like this made him pretty happy. I've got it on loan tonight to scan it, but it has to be returned tomorrow. He keeps it next to his chair in the living room, and I think that's kinda nice. At least someone appreciates it.

A little Audrey to brighten your day?

I love Audrey Hepburn. So much, in fact, that as a final set for my Intro to Illustration class, I created digital collages in her honor. Take a look and enjoy.

This is me

Dear Readers,

Although this isn't my first official entry, I feel like it is only appropriate for me to make a proper introduction. My name is Melissa, aka Lady, and my miniature daschund's name is Quinn. We reside in St. Paul, MN and dream of a life far away in California (San Diego to be specific). But until then, Quinny and I are waiting out a long winter and until I'm done with school (for Graphic Design).

I hope that this blog can cover a variety of topics: art, design, fashion, travel, and everyday life goings of the Lady and Quinn. So sit back, relax, and read on!

xoxo,
Lady and Quinn

Day 1

This is the very first entry in my blog. I have big aspirations for my winter break: finish some logos, design a tattoo, look into freelance work writing and illustrating, and finish my website. I have until the 19th to do it...let's see how it goes!
